Hupy and Abraham Bully Their Way out of Facing the Truth
So we got a call from Jason Abraham on Thursday from Hupy and Abraham, a law firm that has an office in Wausau that ranked third among businesses from Northern Wisconsin (ranked by aggregate employee donations) who donated to America’s most dangerous senator, Ron Johnson.
“Kirk, you’ve pissed me off,” said Abraham, who is the “Abraham” in the firm’s name.
“Why?” replied Kirk.
“Michael Hupy donated all that money to Johnson, not the firm, and if you don’t take our firm’s name off your graph, you’re not going to like what’s going to happen to you.”
“But Michael Hupy is the only other name besides yours on your sign, doesn’t that mean the both of you 'are' the firm?
“You heard me, your graph is going to hurt my and my firm’s reputation, and you’re going to suffer unless you take it down.”
“Didn’t Michael Hupy hurt your firm’s reputation by donating to a guy who just read into the congressional record a massive lie that the insurrectionists on January 6 were ‘fake Trump supporters,’ which has been disproven by every investigator on the case? Isn’t Michael Hupy, by donating to a guy who refused to vote until the LAST MINUTE to allow Biden to become president, thus fanning the flames of insurrection, hurting your firm’s reputation by NOT disavowing Ron Johnson?
“That has nothing to do with this, unless you take our firm’s name off your graph, you’re gonna be in big trouble.”
“Why don’t you just call your business partner, Michael Hupy, and ask him to pledge not to give any more money to a guy who is trying to undermine our democracy? Why are you threatening me?”
And that was the gist of our conversation with Jason Abraham, named partner of Hupy and Abraham, a large PERSONAL INJURY law firm in Wisconsin. And after that phone call, we received the “Cease and Desist” letter posted here from yet another law firm.
Now let’s break this down a bit.
If you’re not a lawyer nor heavily into politics, personal injury lawyers generally donate to democrats, because their entire practice is set up to help the little guy. They are the lawyers that sue hospitals for malpractice, or sue companies when an employee gets injured on the job. And the Democratic Party, for all its faults, is the only party that consistently fights for the little guy.
The fact that Michael Hupy, a named partner for this large personal injury law firm, has donated such large sums of money to Ron Johnson, whose political goals are the exact opposite of helping the little guy, should in and of itself be extremely harmful to his firm. And that’s why Jason Abraham threatened us, because this public information makes him, because he is linked at the hip to Michael Hupy, look terrible.
So of course we’re NOT going to take Hupy and Abraham’s name off of our graph. That’s just not what we do here at the Minocqua Brewing Company.
We’re asking Hupy and Abraham’s leaders, Michael Hupy and Jason Abraham, to pledge to never donate to Ron Johnson again because he is a traitor to our country and to Wisconsin.
And Jason Abraham, we’re going to offer you an olive branch. First, we’ve changed our graph to make it absolutely clear that the donations listed are labeled as “aggregated employee donations,” instead of donations from the company itself. Second, if your partner, Michael Hupy, refuses to disavow Ron Johnson, but you put out a press release rebuking your partner for a) supporting someone who incited insurrection against our country, and b) donating politically to politicians who go against EVERYTHING you claim to fight for in your law practice, we’ll take your firm’s name off of our graph.
And by the way, the fact that Jason Abraham called us because he was afraid the truth was going to hurt his bottom line INSTEAD of calling his partner and asking him to DO THE RIGHT THING speaks volumes about Jason Abraham himself, even if he doesn’t donate to traitors personally.
As we’ve now said a million times, this isn’t about politics. This isn’t about Democrats vs. Republicans, this is about Ron Johnson, who has repeatedly done things that if taken to their logical end, would destroy our country.
And since the awful Supreme Court’s “Citizen’s United” decision, which said that “corporations are people,” the politicians who get the most money in donations usually win, because they can spend millions to flood the airwaves with lies that manipulate the average voter.
So because we’re stuck with in this terrible political climate where money too often decides elections, the only way to stop Ron Johnson is to cut off his money supply, thus asking his major donors to stick their necks out and rebuke him for hurting America.
So what if Johnson’s major donors, including Michael Hupy, refuse to do the right thing? You have to put pressure on them, which means putting pressure on their businesses through boycotting. Unfortunately, many of those who are RICH and POWERFUL only listen when they stand to lose money.
And if Michael Hupy’s law partners get hurt in the process, maybe they’ll ask him to stop donating to traitors or at the very least, stop donating to politicians at all. Wouldn’t that be refreshing?
So give the Law Firm of Hupy and Abraham a call and tell them that you’re not gonna use them for your personal injury lawsuits until they get their house in order and do what’s right, which is to rebuke Ron Johnson forever. Their number is on the graph.
